I am Kira Elma, and I'm most passionate about human biology and art. With a background in biology, studio and digital arts, B2B sales, and instructional design, I am working toward a life of producing beautiful graphics and animations of molecular biological processes to help others learn about the fascinating detailed mechanisms of the human body.

My Story

2013

Started at the University of Pittsburgh pursing a Bachelor of Science in Biology and a Studio Arts Minor. 

2015

Created visual study guides for my early biology courses and sold them on StudySoup, leading to the discovery of my interest in medical illustration. 

2016

Studied abroad in Australia at the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology to take additional art classes aligned with a future in medical illustration like 2D and 3D animation.

2017

Created visual study guides for my advanced biology courses and graduated from the University of Pittsburgh with honors.
 
Decided to pursue medical sales as a route to medical illustration instead of graduate school and started at Unifirst as an Outside Sales Representative. 

2018

Started at Allegheny Petroleum as an Outside Sales Representative and took on marketing and graphic design duties for the small company. 

2020

Began pursing an MS degree in instructional design and technology at Western Illinois University after discovering the field during my search for graphic design programs and realizing its application to my career goal. 

2021

Moved to Denver, Colorado and started working full time at PharmaJet as the Clinical Development Manager while completing the MS degree online. 

2022

As the only employee at the small biotech company with graphic and instructional design experience, I created marketing handouts, internal guides and graphics for PharmaJet. 

2024

Promoted to Sales and Marketing Manager at PharmaJet to include more marketing and graphic design duties.
